Fillet Found ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Fillet Found mobile application and this website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and profile information through our authentication provider (Clerk).
- Contact form: If you contact us via the website, we collect your name, email, subject, and message.
- Fish photos: When you use the Analyze feature, you may upload or capture photos of fish and marine species. These images are sent to our servers for AI-powered identification.
Information collected automatically
- Location data (optional): With your permission, we collect GPS coordinates to show nearby fishing zones, marine conditions, vessel activity, and optional catch verification. Location is not required to use species identification.
- Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, including scan history, species identified, and feature usage.
- Device information: We may collect device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting and analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information

- Display location-based fishing information, marine conditions, and maps
- Save your scan history and generate cooking recipes
- Authenticate your account and maintain your profile

3. AI Processing
Fish photos you submit are processed by AI services to identify species and generate related content (descriptions, recipes, verification results). Images may be temporarily stored on our servers to provide scan history and improve identification accuracy. AI results are provided for informational purposes only and may not always be accurate.
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services that may process your data, including:
- Clerk — user authentication and account management
- Open-Meteo — marine weather and ocean condition data
- Global Fishing Watch — fishing vessel activity data
- Google Maps — map display in the Explore feature
- Recipe providers — Spoonacular, RecipeAPI, and AI-generated recipes
- Vercel — website hosting and contact form processing
These providers have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data and scan history for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual scans within the app. To permanently delete your full account and data, use our Delete Account & Data form — deletion is automatic and immediate — or contact us below. Contact form submissions are retained as long as needed to respond to your inquiry.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure storage for authentication tokens. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Withdraw consent for location access (via device settings)
- Request a copy of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority
